Stainsby Girl is an 8 year old mare by the excellent sire Shirocco, sire of Annie Power amongst many other good horses both on the flat and over jumps. The dam, Charmaine Wood, was a talented horse herself and is a half-sister to the high class chaser Our Ben. Their sister, Countess Camilla, produced a proper Saturday chaser in Moonlighter, so there is plenty of talent in the family!

Stainsby Girl w0n a bumper on debut by a massive 17 lengths back in 2018, and has rarely been out of the placings since then! She was a £22,000 purchase in May 2022 and moved to trainer Nick Alexander where she has since been enjoying a summer holiday. She is now back in trotting exercise to build up her base fitness and the aim is for her to be back on the track in the mid to late autumn. She is a talented mare who is very effective over two miles on very soft ground, and should give us plenty of fun this winter when the mud is flying!

Nick Alexander is one of Scotland’s top National Hunt trainers and prides himself on getting the best out of every horse in his care. While regularly producing bumper winners, many of his horses do not reach their peak until after the age of 10, allowing them to mature and progress naturally. Nick is best known for training the much loved grey Lake View Lad, owned by the late Trevor Hemmings, who memorably won the Grade 2 Many Clouds Chase at Aintree beating the likes of Santini, Native River and Frodon.

Nick and his team are based 45 minutes north of Edinburgh at Kinneston, a beautiful yard with top class facilities and gallops.
