A once-in-a-lifetime stud tour

MONDAY 4th JULY 2022

We have arranged a truly unique experience for our members this summer… We will visit Robert Waley Cohen’s Upton Viva Stud (nr Banbury, Oxfordshire) to see our mare Oakley Dancer on holiday! While we are there we will be treated to a tour of the stud, seeing some of the great stars of the National Hunt game from the last two decades including the incredible racehorse Long Run, superstar mare Liberthine and none other than this year’s Grand National winner, Noble Yeats! We will also see Robert’s outstanding broodmares and their offspring, including foals, yearlings, two years olds etc.

An amazing day out for any racing fan, with the opportunity to learn from and ask questions to one of the most respected owner/breeders in the thoroughbred world. Get your name down fast for this one as numbers are strictly limited!

Picnic with us at Cartmel

Come to Cartmel Racecourse with us and watch competitive National Hunt at a racecourse like no other! Pack your bubbles and your picnic, and relax into this giant garden party whilst the horses thunder past. We have reserved picnic benches along the home straight with uninterrupted views of the racing. Come and join us (hopefully in the sun!) for a day of racing with friends. £35 per person which includes a welcome drink.

Visit to Tom Ward Racing followed by racing at Newbury

We are heading to see our beautiful filly Luisa Casati at Tom Ward’s impressive Whitehouse Stables in Upper Lambourn. After seeing the filly in her box and on the beautiful Jockey Club gallops, we will head on to Newbury Racecourse to enjoy an afternoon of racing – hopefully in the sun!

BRC Picnic on Trundle Hill during Glorious Goodwood

Set yourself up for the final day of Glorious Goodwood with drinks and nibbles before racing on the famous Trundle Hill, with panoramic views of the coast, Chichester and the racecourse. Picnic with us from 11:30 until we head into the racecourse to enjoy a world-class day of racing, featuring one of the most competitive handicaps of the season, the Stewards Cup. Entrance to the racecourse costs from £25 and can be purchased here.

A Monday evening at Windsor

There is nowhere quite like Windsor Racecourse on a sunny summer’s evening and that is exactly where we will be in the middle of August! We will start the evening with drinks by the River Thames in Eton, before getting on a boat up to the racecourse to enjoy Windsor’s Cocktails and Jazz evening, a lovely backdrop to some fast-paced and competitive racing!

Visit to George Boughey and Tom Clover

A double header stable visit on a bank holiday weekend – what more could you want?! Well, how about an afternoon of quality flat racing at Newmarket with brunch at the incredible National Horse Racing Museum squeezed in too? Sounds good to us!

A weekend in Yorkshire

One of the most beautiful areas of England, Yorkshire is a the perfect destination for a weekend break! We have made things easy for you with a visit booked to see gorgeous Truly Charming at Tim Easterby’s famous Habton Stables. We will watch our filly on the gallops alongside the Easterby team who are always entertaining! We will then move on to Thirsk Racecourse for their Ladies Day, and there is also racing at York the following day (Sunday 4th) for those who can’t get enough racing!

Visit to Toby Lawes, Surrey

Our first visit to up-and-coming National Hunt trainer Toby Lawes will be a handy one for any London or South based members! A short train journey from London (or 15 minute drive south of the m25 for drivers) will take you to the beautiful Henfold Stables, once home of Grand National winner Rough Quest! We will meet Toby and his team in the yard, and hear about his dark horses for the season ahead, not to mention meeting our new jumps horse! We will watch the horses on the gallops before enjoying champagne and nibbles back at the yard.

Visit to Nick Alexander, Fife

Nick Alexander trains in a beautiful spot in central Scotland, which is where we will be heading this autumn to meet our new National Hunt horse! We will enjoy coffee before heading up onto the gallops (comfortable shoes recommended!) to watch Nick’s horses at exercise, with the opportunity to ask any questions you have been harbouring about the art of training racehorses. We will also tour the stables and see the behind scenes workings of a busy racing yard. A trip not to be missed!
