A fantastic February Friday!
Our first stable visit as the re-launched British Racing Club was one to remember, on a fresh and sunny February morning in Warwickshire. An enthusiastic group of members met at Olly Murphy’s Warren Chase Stables to see Oakley Dancer in the flesh for the very first time! We couldn’t have been more delighted with the mare; she is a big, scopey girl who looks to have a great attitude. Olly pointed out several of his high profile horses in the string, and we watched them on the round sand canter – a replica of that of Gordon Elliot, to whom Olly was assistant for several years.
We headed back to the yard to see Oakley Dancer being unsaddled and washed down, and heard about Olly’s plans for her this spring, which include a racecourse gallop or two before making her debut in a bumper. Exciting times! After coffees and croissants in Olly’s owners room, we headed on to Warwick races where we met in the car park for a glass or two of fizz before racing. We enjoyed a fantastic card with competitive racing, and a few winners between us! All in all, a fantastic way to spend a Friday. We are looking forward to the next one!
